Frank Hundley "Huck" Thompson, age 86, passed away while surrounded by his family on March 4, 2024. His family will announce a celebration of life at a later date.

Huck was born March 9, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Hundley Newton and Marie Magdalena (Gebing) Thompson. On April 1, 1969 he was united in marriage with Cheryle Ann (Crandall) in Lincoln, Nebraska. Huck had a long career at the Des Moines Register. Following his retirement, he also spent time working at The Teamsters Local 90, as a gopher at Grandview Golf Course and retiring for a second time as a driver from Toyota of Des Moines.

Huck was charismatic and made friends easily. He had a variety of interests: completing marathons and triathlons, golfing, speed skating, boating & water skiing, and diving. He was a well known, long time Ragbrai rider with Team Silver Streak. Huck was one of the only remaining OG riders to have ridden every mile of every day of every Ragbrai up until his last ride some 30 years later. He enjoyed trips to the Ozarks each summer with his family. Spending those days floating on his raft and soaking up the sun with a beer in his hand.
