Where: El Bait Shop - Downtown Des Moines, Iowa The Start/Finish staging ground for Track and Back will be located at El Bait Shop. Located just South of the Court Avenue district in downtown Des Moines near Principal Park (formerly Sec Taylor Field), this establishment has already begun dedicating itself to capturing the hearts and commitment of the cycling community. With close trail access to the Great Western Trail, Bill Riley, Neil Smith and all linking trails, El Bait Shop has dedicated itself to the cycling community! One way of showing this is by partnering with Track and Back to bring you a more than complete post-ride event filled with everything someone coming off a 50-100 mile bike ride is looking for! El Bait Shop knows smokin' BBQ as good a most and will be providing a complimentary and complete post-ride feast for you! In addition, one of Central Iowa's great rock 'n' roll bands, Mr. Baber's Neighbors, will be rocking the afternoon away for your entertainment! Lastly, the TAB committee has been accumulating plenty of prizes available in a drawing ranging from gift certificates, goods & apparel to a brand new bike! Family, friends and co-workers are more than welcome to join in the celebration afterwards at El Bait Shop. Just because someone doesn't ride doesn't mean they can't have just as good of a time! This post-ride event is for everyone! Come on down and let's celebrate, support and enjoy Iowa's ever growing cycling community!

What: 100 or 50 mile bicycle rides are open to you, including laps around the Iowa Speedway!!! When was the last time or the next time you can ride around a professional NASCAR race track? There are two distances available for riders considering participation! The 96+ mile route begins at 8:00am at El Bait Shop and heads East towards the Iowa Speedway. The approximate distance out is 46+ miles on the out and will follow the same route on the way back. For the Short Course rider, the trip home begins between 11:30am & 12:45pm. 46+ mile riders are responsible for their own transportation to the Iowa Speedway and can check in there. Ride volunteers will help bring 46+ mile riders up to speed at that time. Volunteering to carpool is encouraged! If you can provide a ride or need a ride, please contact us! All riders are encouraged to spin several laps on the track of the Iowa Speedway as there will be photographers taking your picture for a trophy mounting later! All photos will be available shortly after the event!
Why: Because for a very modest entry fee you can help raise thousands of dollars for Iowa's youth through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa ! Early Bird Registration (before August 15th) Long Route: $60.00 Short Route: $50.00 Regular Registration ( August 15th - Day of the Ride) Long Route: $75.00 Short Route: $65.00 Bottom line is that this ride isn't for nothing! The cycling community is one of the most dedicated and inspiring group of individuals in the world today! Having several committed riders on the Track and Back committee, we share the passion! NO! We are not asking you to go out and raise money in the name of our cause. What we are asking is that you consider paying a slightly higher ride fee to make Track And Back a success for years to come! Our line of thinking is if Track and Back can bring you an day of riding which brings you unique experiences, a scenic and relaxing ride, top-notch BBQ, live entertainment and the knowledge that 100% of your ride entry fee was staying here in Iowa, we hope you would put this on your calendar! We encourage you to support Track and Back for several reasons....
  • You'll have a great day of riding! (We promise!)
  • 100% of your entry fee is "tax-deductible" and headed to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa
  • Eat some of Iowa's best BBQ
  • Great chance of winning a door prize!
  • You're already in-shape from RAGBRAI.... why not? (Consider this the "Century Day" on RAGBRAI!)
