Forey Fest, a Benefit for Forey Jacobson, Set for January 14th 5k Run, Bar Crawl and Concert Will Benefit the Local Runner

The details are now in place for a full day of events to benefit a local
runner who was a victim of a brutal attack in early November. Forey
Jacobson, who is well known in the local running community and a
frequent patron of Court District businesses, was severely injured
during an assault in early November.

The outpouring of support from the community has been overwhelming and thus
a day of events has been organized to celebrate the spirit of Forey and raise money for the financial challenges that such an injury present. Within days of the incident, a “Friends of Forey
Facebook page was established and the number of followers has grown to
over 1400. Jacobson was recently released from the hospital following
numerous surgeries and intensive rehabilitation.

Forey worked for us at the original Buzzard Billy’s and is now a customer at
our restaurants every weekend,” said Full Court Press co-owner Andy
Massoth. “We want to do anything we can to help Forey and let him know we are pulling for him.”

The Full Court Press family of bars will host a live music bar crawl on January 14th which follows a Forey 5k “Barefoot Benefit” (named such because Forey
is known for running the IMT Des Moines Marathon, Living History Farms
Race and other events barefoot and often in nothing more than a loin
cloth.) The day ends with a concert, talent showcase and raffle drawing
at People’s Court.

Organizers and members of the community have come together to produce an event to benefit Forey, but also to further an anti-violence sentiment.
