The Great Riverview Ride Is brought to you by Kiwanis Riverview Nature Island & Parks Area Foundation. All proceeds go to benefit development of Kiwanis Riverview Nature Island for leisure activities and environmental education. The Great Riverview Ride is a forty-five mile round trip scenic bike ride. Check in time is from 7:00 - 9:00 am on 10/05/02. Riders will leave in intervals beginning at Kiwanis Riverview Nature Island, 800 Corning Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa heading west on the Saylorville John “ Pat” Dorrian Recreation bike trail towards Big Creek Park enjoying a variety of terrain and beautiful scenery. Rugged hills and picturesque valleys are found in the upper segments. Below Saylorville Dam, a gently sloping grade winds beneath towering trees and past scenic vistas of the Des Moines River Valley. Enjoy the sights of Autumns Vibrant patchwork quilt of colors, native grasses and wild flowers and the sounds of song birds, crickets, and possible sightings of deer, and other wildlife on the trail. Refreshments, First- Aid and Water stations at strategic locations along the trail for your convenience. Modern Restroom Facilities located at Cottonwood Recreation Area, Saylorville Visitors Center, Cherry Glen Recreation area, Sand Piper Recreation area and Big Creek State Park. The Great Riverview Ride finishes where it all began at Kiwanis Riverview Nature Island for an afternoon of food, fun and entertainment.

Route

Ride begins at Kiwanis Riverview Nature Island, 800 Corning Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa heading west on the Saylorville John “ Pat” Dorrian Recreation bike trail towards Big Creek Park Beach enjoying a variety of terrain and beautiful scenery.
