Come Celebrate the Des Moines B-cycle Public Launch Party Des Moines is just the fourth community in the USA to initiate a bike-sharing program. And, we're pretty darned proud. The Des Moines B-cycle pilot program rolled out at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1 with 18 bikes and 4 downtown kiosks. Launch Party Speakers:
  • Mayor Frank Cownie
  • Polk County Supervisor Angela Connolly
  • John Forsyth, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Chairman and CEO
Bike relay will follow news conference.
