A rainy morning and a sketchy forecast didn't hold back about 60 cyclists from the monthly Fat Tire Fun Ride to Saint's Pub & Patio in West Des Moines.

At the last minute the route was changed again due to trail flooding, so we all took the new Ingersol bike lanes to the Walnut Creek bike trail to a beer stop along the trail the proceeding to Saint's via EP True Parkway.

What a great set up Saint's has! and right off the trail!!

World Cup Soccer was playing between USA and England, and we hung out on the deck then headed back toward downtown with a stop at Charlie's Filling Station on the way back.

Just Plain Fun

The ride is sponsored by New Belgium Brewing the makers of FAT TIRE BEER and el Bait Shop. New Belgium will be raffling off one of their signature bicycles at the end of the ride series in October. You must be on one of the rides and buy an entry beer to enter the raffle. TO WIN THE FAT TIRE CRUISER YOU MUST BE PRESENT AT THE OCTOBER RIDE AND SORRY THE PREVIOUS YEAR'S WINNER IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO WIN. New Belgium will be giving away a bunch of prizes straight from the brewery in Fort Collins, CO. during each ride. Each ride will have a different route with different bars and entertainment.

Updated June 8th 9:0pm Notice: the June 12 Fat Tire Fun Ride's route has been changed due to construction/closure along the Clive Greenbelt trail in West Des Moines. The BIKEIOWA.com clan is taking the lead on this ride, and the NEW destination will be Saint's Pub & Patio at 265 50th Street in West Des Moines, IA which just happens to be 25 feet off the bike trail! The owners have been wanting to have a Bike ride stop there for some time and they have a great patio too! We are working on refreshment specials when we get there! The route: From the Bait Shop take the Meredith Trail to Bill Riley Trail, then cut through a few blocks in Valley Junction, hit Railroad for a bit, then cross over Grand and hop on the Jordan Creek Trail toward 50th. It should be about 20 miles round-trip. Feel free to ride all or some of it. It's a good time with good people and best of all, we are all ridin' Two wheels! This is a great ride for first-timers! We will be there rain or shine! Plan on a Fat Tire beer break somewhere along the way.

Registration

Be down to el Bait Shop before noon for a registration beer. The ride will leave around 1:00 pm.
