100+ racers showed up for the 2nd cyclocross race of the season. An great flowing compact course was perfect for racers as it was for spectators. Look for full results and a recap soon. Until then, enjoy some photos. (Note: both days are in the same gallery)

CAPITAL CITY CROSS 2009 PLEASE join us at Witmer Park in Des Moines for Iowa's Second official cyclocross race of the 2009 season! Sunday, September 28th Two great days of cyclocross fun! Come out and enjoy these great new venues near downtown Des Moines. Check out Saturday's Race This race is part of the Central Iowa Cyclocross Series Powered by SCHEELS. Beginner Friendly Have not raced before? This is a perfect place to see if you like cross. Show up early to get a little practice. See the discounted registration for first timers. This is your chance to try it out! You don't even need a special bike! All you need is: Two wheels, A brake on each wheel, a Freewheel , and handlebar ends that do not point forwards or up. Route

The Race course will be marked on Sunday morning. This will be a brand new venue for racin'! Plan on flats, hills, switch-backs, sand, park roads, downhills, run-ups, barriers and much more! Everything you'd expect in a Cyclocross race! The Fine Print About The Races: Held under USCF race permits (2009-2560). Helmets must be worn at all times when on a bicycle. No Free Lap! Criterium finish rule applies: lapped riders do not have to make up the extra laps. $5 entry fee for second race on same day. Mountain bikes are legal, no bar ends. All events except Cat 1-2-3 open to un-licensed riders. 1-day USCF racing licenses will be available at the race for $10.00. There will not be discounted 2009 annual licenses through www.USACycling.org. 1-day licensees can race with the CX 4 for men. Riders under 18 will need a parent-signed standard entry form and release or a parent at the race to sign the entry form or a 1-day license. Promoter reserves rights including revising the flier if needed.

Registration

Register at the Race! Registration will open up at 9:30 am on Sunday. Get $5.00 off your entry fee If you are a first time cross racer, BIKEIOWA.com will pay $5.00 of your race fee. So a $25 entry fee becomes $20 for first time racers! What an incentive! don't forget to mention this at the registration booth. FREE BIKEIOWA Tag for Spectators AND Racers Mention you saw this race on BIKEIOWA.com and receive a FREE reflective BIKEIOWA Tag at the registration booth! This race is VERY SPECTATOR Friendly!! If you have never been to a cyclocross race, you are missing out! There is action everywhere and you can watch the race from several vantage points! Kick back for an afternoon and watch cyclocross! Ride your bike down! If driving there will be parking along 37th, Washington Ave and Witmer Parkway.
