CAPITAL CITY CYCLOCROSS

The first annual Capital City Cross is in the books. Racers were met with beautiful weather and good times both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday night saw a great ‘after party’ at the Bike Collective in down town des moines. Overall a fantastic weekend to kick off Iowa Cyclocross in 2008. We had 14 FIRST TIME RACERS! Great to see some new faces out there. A huge thanks to Mark Guthart, as always, for officiating both Saturday and Sunday.

CAPITAL CITY CROSS 2008 PLEASE join us at Mac Rae Park in Des Moines for Iowa's First official cyclocross race of the 2008 season! Saturday, September 27th and Sunday, September 28th Two great days of cyclocross fun! Come out and enjoy this great new venue just south of downtown Des Moines. Beginner Friendly Have not raced before? This is a perfect place to see if you like cross. Show up early to get a little practice. See the discounted registration for first timers. This is your chance to try it out! You don't even need a special bike! All you need is: Two wheels, A brake on each wheel, a Freewheel , and handlebar ends that do not point forwards or up. Mountain bikes work great! The Fine Print About The Races: Held under USCF race permits (2008-wxyz). Helmets must be worn at all times when on a bicycle. No Free Lap! Criterium finish rule applies: lapped riders do not have to make up the extra laps. $5 entry fee for second race on same day. Mountain bikes are legal, no bar ends. All events except Cat 1-2-3 open to unlicensed riders. 1-day USCF racing licenses will be available at the race for $10.00. There will not be discounted 2008 annual licenses through www.USACycling.org. 1-day licensees can race with the CX 4 for men. Riders under 18 will need a parent-signed standard entry form and release or a parent at the race to sign the entry form or a 1-day license. Promoter reserves rights.including revising the flier if needed.

Route

The Race course will be marked on Saturday morning. A brand spankin' new race course will be marked for the Sunday races! Plan on flats, hills, switch-backs, sand, park roads, downhills, run-ups, barriers and much more! Everything you'd expect in a Cyclocross race!

Register at the Race! Registration will open up at 12:30 pm on Saturday and 9:30 am on Sunday. Get $5.00 off your entry fee If you are a first time cross racer, BIKEIOWA.com will pay $5.00 of your race fee. So a $25 entry fee becomes $20 for first time racers! What an incentive! don't forget to mention this at the registration booth. FREE Decal for Spectators AND Racers Mention you saw this race on BIKEIOWA.com and receive a FREE reflective BIKEIOWA window decal at the registration booth!

This race is VERY SPECTATOR Friendly!! If you have never been to a cyclocross race, you are missing out! There is action everywhere and you can watch the race from several vantage points! Kick back for an afternoon and watch cyclocross! Ride your bike down! If driving there will be parking along Davis street as some of the park roads will be closed to traffic that day.
