We are pleased to announce the dedication of the Paul Black Memorial Plaza in Bouton, IA on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10:30am. The dedication will be at the plaza, which is adjacent to the newest section of the High Trestle Trail completed in August.
Please come see the plaza to honor Paul Black, a legendary local cyclist who passed away from cancer at age 71 four years ago. Paul's extrordinary cycling accomplishments are listed on a plaque displayed on the plaza. He was an inspiration to many for his amazing endurance and kind, generous heart.
The plaza was built with funds from numerous donors with generous support from the City of Bouton. The plaza features a bench, bike rack, picnic table, tool stand and trash receptacle. Bouton donated the land and a tinted concrete pad and has added landscaping around the plaza. The plaza provides a place for trail users and residents to refresh and enjoy the trail and what Bouton has to offer.
Come early if you are interested in a delicious breakfast in the Bouton Community Center from 7:00 to 10:00am. Refreshments will be served in the community center after the dedication. Some of Paul's cycling memorabilia will be on display.
Pass the word and let's have a good turnout from the cycling community and trail supporters!
