The Spectaculaire is a 900 +/- mile single-stage, self-supported competitive bike ride through SW and Central Montana and includes is 450 miles of gravel and 2-track. It starts on August 19, 2024 in Bozeman and finishes when the last rider is home safe back in Bozeman. There is a pre-ride bike inspection and meeting, with a meal provided by the event organizers, on August 18. The 41.1k feet of climbing is scattered throughout the route as it winds up and down numerous river drainages on both sides of the Continental Divide; the CD is crossed 2X. Crush it or ride at a pace within your comfort zone, you can make this event as challenging and competitive as you wish. The Spectaculaire would be a good precursor for anyone who has aspirations of doing the TransAm-Bike Nonstop or Tour Divide, to sort out equipment and get the feel of a multi-day event. There are over 25 hours of time bonuses to be earned, including eating pie, documenting stops at locations of historical significance and visiting some of the numerous missile silos in the state. Start the registration process to receive information such as a table of gravel segements, many of the services along the route and the time bonuses available. Pairs and tandems are welcome.
