From Joe....

Thank you Scott Sumpter, Kyle Sedore and all the Des Moines area bikers who participated in Relaycross by BikeIowa today at Mullets! We collected two picnic tables full of food, sleeping bags, hand warmers, socks and other goodies that the Urban Bicycle Food Ministry will take out in the next several weeks to those in need. You also donated $1275. We will us this money to purchase the ingredients to make 2,550 burritos!

Thank you for making a difference in the Des Moines community for those in need!

RELAYCROSS! We're back at it again this year.  Same great race, same great venue.   If you were there last year you know, it was fun! A LOT OF FUN! This year will be again be at Mullets! Please support them as they have been a long-term BIKEIOWA sponsor.


If you weren't there in the past, you are probably wondering what Relaycross is?

 
The format is simple:  2 hours of cross racing with 4 teammates tagging in and out to pile on as many laps as possible before time runs out.  The team with the most laps wins.  FUN!

Three categories: mens, womens and coed (2 men 2 women)

This race is designed to be as serious or leisurely as you want.  You and your team can race all out or at a conversational pace.  It's all for a good cause.

Payouts?  Yep.  High fives, pride and good karma to everyone that enters.

Pre registration and online fees?  Nope! Day of only.

Do I need a license you ask? Hell no!  This is a charity race people.  So please grab your donations and Join us on September 16th at Mullets.

Registration opens at 12:00pm and closes at 1:00pm.  Racing begins at 1:30pm.  Please feel free to email with questions or comments.

This year Relaycross will be racing for the Urban Bicycle Food Ministry.

The Urban Bicycle Food Ministry is a grass-roots non-profit organization that feeds the homeless in Des Moines.

Join the Urban Bicycle Food Ministry as they go out on to the streets of Des Moines to provide radical hospitality! They ride bikes into the downtown Des Moines area to provide burritos, water, fruit and cookies and build a relationship with those who call the Des Moines street their home.

What's all this cost?   A Donation for the the Urban Bicycle Food Ministry.

  We are asking each team of 4 to bring $100 in product from the list below for direct donation to the Food Ministry.

• Blankets
• Sleeping bags
• Socks
• Coats
• Gloves
• Winter hats
• Scarves
• Thermal under clothing
• Uncondensed soup in cans (with pull tabs i.e. Progresso)
• Boots
• Batteries
• Candles
• Spaghetti-Os (in pull tab cans)
