Davenport, Iowa – The 4^th Annual Quad Cities “Tweed Ride” will take place on Saturday, October 22nd when bicyclists will gather at the Village Theatre in the Village of East Davenport to embark on a leisurely riverfront ride. Modeled after the original London “Tweed Run”, riders have fun reproducing the traditional English attire and spirit of a bygone era. All bicycles are most certainly welcomed but vintage velocipedes will be appreciated and fawned over! The ride will conclude with awards for “Most Dapper Gent”, “Most Fashionable Lady”, “Best Vintage Bike”, “Best Decorated Bike”, and of course the coveted “Best Moustache”.

Cost to ride is free with donations accepted to help River Action. So dust off those jaunty wool caps and wax up those moustaches as we celebrate what is still the most wonderful way to propel one’s self from point A to point B…the bicycle!

Now look here, this is a free ride. Its true purpose is to celebrate the history and culture of what is still the most wonderful way to propel one’s self from point A to point B. We discussed the pros and cons of charging a ride fee to help cover expenses but in the end, none of us in the Two Wheels and Tweed Social Club wanted to deal with any of that registration service fee rubbish.  If you happen to be on the dole, down on your luck, or just say humbug, you’re still welcome to participate. Perhaps this small bicycle excursion will lift your spirits and help propel you to sunnier days!  That being said, if you can spare a suggested $20 donation, it will be accepted with gratitude. Besides the warm fuzzy feeling of helping out, donors will also receive a commemorative arm band that entitles the wearer to participate in all contests and giveaways, save for the bike raffle.
