UPDATE:

Mercy Medical Center North Iowa is confirming the bicyclist involved in an accident earlier today has died. 62-year-old Sally Bell of Clear Lake was involved in an accident with her bike, and a truck. She was airlifted to the hospital, and died there on Thursday.

CERRO GORDO COUNTY, Iowa – The Iowa State Patrol says a female bicyclist were hurt in a collision with a flatbed truck Thursday morning.

Authorities say 62-year-old Sally Bell of Clear Lake was riding her bicycle west on 340th Street and 63-year-old Timothy Cole of Clear Lake was driving his GMC flatbed truck north on Balsam Avenue when they met in the middle of the intersection.

Bell was flown to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa for treatment of her injuries. The accident occurred just after 10:30 am.

The bicyclist in this incident had earlier been identified as a young male.

Sally was an amazing woman. We knew her from gravel races including the Almanzo Royal, and the 340+ mile gravel race called the Alexander. We are praying for Seth, her son and riding partner, and his family.
