Brewing is one of America's largest beer-makers. Based in Milwaukee
Wisconsin, it was founded in 1855 by Frederick Miller when he purchased
the small Plank-Road Brewery. The brewery's location in the Miller
Valley provided easy access to raw materials produced on nearby farms.
Essentially
the first mainstream light beer, Miller Lite is known for its
long-running "Tastes great — Less filling" advertising campaigns, which
was ranks as the 8th top advertising campaign in history by Advertising
Age magazine.
When Miller acquired Meister Brau in the early 70's
the recipe was reformulated and relaunched as "Miller Lite" in 1975,
and heavily marketed using masculine pro sports players and other macho
figures of the day in an effort to sell to the key beer-drinking male
demographic.
