Hotel Pattee and Flat Tire Lounge have partnered to bring you food service on the High Trestle Trail.
The Grand Opening of the Frontier Shack will be Friday, May 15th at the Flat Tire Lounge in Madrid.
About the Frontier Shack
The Hotel Pattee's Frontier Shack is a
tribute to the original Frontier Shack, a dining car on the "City of
Denver" train that ran from Chicago to Denver.
Train history is a
large part of the Hotel Pattee. In David's Milwaukee Diner, the dining
areas are inspired by a railroad depot restaurant.
The expansion
of the bike trails in Iowa as a result of Rails-To-Trails, created a
natural connection as Hotel Pattee expands its food service to the High
Trestle Trail in order to connect the ideas of railroads , cycling and
history.

Feeding the Trail
The Flat Tire Lounge needed food. The Hotel Pattee had great food. "Two great tastes that taste great together."
In
the 1970s and 1980s, a series of commercials were run for Reese's
Peanut Butter Cups featuring situations in which two people, one eating
peanut butter and one eating chocolate, collided. One person would
exclaim, "You got your peanut butter on my chocolate!" and the other
would exclaim, "You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!". They would
then sample the mixture and remark on the great taste, tying in with
the slogan "Two great tastes that taste great together." This is how we
envision The Frontier Shack will be!
The Frontier Shack will
serve a variety of food choices including pizza, sandwiches, wings,
nachos and sides. Breakfast food and deserts will also be on the menu.
Grab & Go light menu items will be available too.
Eat at the Shack, on the deck, inside Flat Tire Lounge, or pack it away and have a picnic on a bridge overlook.
The Frontier Shack will be open through Summer and most of the Fall.

About Flat Tire Lounge
The Flat Tire Lounge is only 3 miles from the High Trestle Trail and offers a great atmosphere to hang out with other cyclists and enjoy a cool refreshment (or two).
The Flat Tire Lounge was started by 10 local friends and opened June 2011. The building was originally an old feed store when the train tracks were in. The inside was remodeled featuring a unique bar counter top made with concrete and broken wine bottles polished down for a smooth finish. Their main attraction is there 800 square foot deck that is less than 12 feet from the High Trestle Trail. Over the last few years, we have made many friends and had plenty of great times!
