A test of will and strength drew nearly 1,300 athletes to Des Moines Sunday morning.
Johnston’s Evan Culbert was the overall winner of the half-Ironman Des Moines, finishing with a time of 4:08:53.
The 29-year-old was the top performer out of 1,292 participating in the extreme triathlon, anchored by a per-mile average of 6:01.
