ABOUT THE BAND:
The Al Welsh Orchestra, a longtime popular dance band from central Iowa, plays “music of the Big Band Era, along with many of the most famous dance tunes of the 1920’s, ‘30’s, ‘40’s, ‘50’s and beyond”! The band’s repertoire includes a wide array of musical styles including fox trots, swing, waltzes, polkas, Latin (cha cha, tango, rumba and samba), schottishes, dixieland, blues and ballads. The band is available for all occasions. The band has been in existence for over a half century, originating from Webster City, Iowa by the band’s namesake, Al Welsh.
Al Welsh, a highly accomplished musician who specialized on organ, trumpet, and vocals, died in 1989 of heart complications. The band continued on under Al’s wife, Sherry’s management until 2003 when present owner/trombone player, Denny Anderson of Rockwell City, Iowa, took over the band.
