Rain and ankle-deep mud weren'tslowing down Colin and Will Knowles.
Their father cheered, umbrella in hand, as the 10-year-old twins tore through the coursein the junior boys'competition Friday during the Volkswagen Jingle Cross bike races at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Iowa City.
"I don't know how my kids do it," Matt Knowles said of his sons. "It's like they're telling themselves 'I like racing past my threshold for over an hour.' It's incredible to watch."
Knowles and his family were just a few of the estimated 5,000 people enjoying the first day of the three-day Telenet UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup and Jingle Cross races, race spokesperson Laurie Haman said.
