A contractor will be installing utilitiesunder the Great Western Trail at the Alluvion site (That is the name of the new Microsoft facility on Pine Ave at the Highway 5 bypass).The City of West Des Moines has two easements, one crossing north of Pine for water and electricity and one to the west of the site for sanitary sewer.
For each one, they will be cutting the trail and replacing it.
In both cases, the trail will remain open for users via a temporary trail leading around the construction. This request to place the information on your websites is primarily to notify trail users of the construction and to be sure as many as possible are aware that it will be a construction site and caution is advised.
Construction is scheduled to begin next week and the process should take approximately 2 weeks before the trail is restored and back in regular service.
