The second annual 'Survive the Challenge' Mountain Bike races were a fitting climax to a fun weekend of biking The Winnebago Council BSA Biking Auxiliary hosted biking events for over 300 Boy Scouts at BSA Camp Ingawanis on Saturday May 1st. Scouts were able to participate in a 'bike' pull contest, bike obstacle course, balance course, one mile Mountain Biking Time Trials event and 'Huffy' toss. Thanks to Decorah Bicycles for providing instruction to the Scouts on the proper maintenance and fitting of bikes and helmets. Paul Meyermann, a member of the Scout biking auxiliary, said "Mountain Biking is a great activity for the Scouts. "...a Scout is physically strong,.." is part of the Scout Oath and Mountain Biking helps Scouts to become physically fit while having an awsome time." The first IMBCS Mountain Bike race of the season culminated the weekend activities on Sunday. Racers had a beautiful day to traverse the 9 miles of awesome trails at the camp. Experienced Mountain Bike racers commented that the course was "one of the best I've ever ridden". Congratulations to Caleb Bennet champion of the Expert Class 27 mile race in a time of 2:03:22. Congratulations to Dennis Grelk champion of the Sport class 18 mile race in a time of 1:30:14. Congratulations to Nathan Overtree champion of the Recreational Class 9 mile race in a time of 1:02:03 Scout Class race champions (3 miles): Scouter Class - Ton Klenske Star Scout Class - Dan Dunleavy, Cub Scout Class - Mason Weibel.
