Powerline Fitness and Cyclingupdate.com are proud to announce a cash purse road race at Big Creek State Park on Saturday, May 19th. Four separate categories will race distances from 36 to 54 miles on the 6 mile circuit. The final 2 miles of each lap will be through Big Creek Park, with beautiful veiws of the lake. Cyclists are encouraged to bring thier families for the afternoon of racing, as the Start/Finish area is at the beach, with a huge wooden playground and sheltered picnic area. This will be the first race of the All9Yards Women's Developmental Cycling Team. Dee Mable, organizer of the team said that the women on the team have been training hard and looking forward to thier competion. Jane Riessen, long time cyclist and member of the Mercy/Specialized squad of Iowa City is thrilled with the addition of the Women's specific team and is anxious to meet them in a race. The racing starts at 2:00pm with the Cat. 1/2/3 race. Cat.s 4/5 will leave after a 3 minute lag and the Women and Masters riders will leave another 3 min after that. With a total purse more than $750, and the Iowa Cup Gilbert Road Race on Sunday, close to 100 racers are expected. This is a USA Cycling event and a license is required.
