BIKEIOWA NOTE: Ankeny had a public open house to review the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) on May 8th 2024 at the
Kirkendall Library. We attended with the
Iowa Bicycle Coalition.
Ankeny is the fastest growing city in Iowa and we have been residents of Ankeny for 20+ years and are pleased with the current trail system. The proposed short-term and long-term trail system is even better.
It was a very informative experience and we hope you can read the photos we posted.

Following the adoption of
Ankeny 2040, the City recognized the need to better understand and communicate how investments in transportation infrastructure are made.
The Ankeny Transportation Master Plan (TMP) will communicate the goals and objectives for the transportation network as well as the data sources and types that help to demonstrate the plan is effective.
A TMP is a community’s vision for transportation and mobility for the next 20-25 years. The plan development and resulting final plan helps in:
. Identifying community needs and values
· Prioritizing future transportation projects
· Guiding the maintenance of the transportation system and related technology systems
The City of Ankeny is pursuing the development of a TMP to improve its existing transportation system to better serve current and future users of this system.
