Description
Road
Distance - 20-, 38-, or 46-mi. options
The annual May 25th ride will commemorate Parkersburg's notorious EF-5 tornado that struck on the afternoon of May 25th, 2008. The route parallels the same one the convective monster took to Fairbank on that fateful day, two years ago. From the once-flattened Kwik Star store in Parkersburg the ride passes through New Hartford, past the cemetery, along the north edge of the Waterloo Airport and on to where the half-mile wide buzz saw twister finally ceased its earthly destruction just outside Fairbank.
Route
HWY 57 East to New Hartford. Then east on C67/Beaver Valley Rd. to North Union Road. The ride then must break south through Cedar Falls (The Parkade-20mi.) before rejoining the west-to-east tornado path on W. Dunkerton Road. Then east again to Dunkerton (38mi.) or on to Fairbank (46mi.). The 46mi. option terminates at the new, roomy and accommodating Costa's Sports Bar & Grill in Fairbank and/or any of the town's beautiful parks, nearby. See MAP for full route illustration.
