‘Tis the season to try.
At 9am CST this Friday, Dec. 11, I will try and bike for 141 miles on Zwift to raise donations for two amazing Iowa organizations – the Cedar Valley Humane Society and the Granger House Victorian Museum.
The Zwift route is Watopia’s Out and Back Again.
My Zwift rider name is T.Flagel. Click on that to join me.
I could sure use the help, and this is a great cause. Please consider donating or riding along.
DONATE HERE
https://www.cvhumane.org/ - Linn County’s Cedar Valley Humane Society sustained severe damage from the derecho, including the theft of its main generator.
https://grangerhouse.org/ - The derecho tore off the Granger House’s late 19th-century roof, ripped away several layers of brick, broke windows, and saturated the interior, including its original artifacts.
Why 141 miles?
The August 10 Derecho reached 140 mph winds, ravaging our home state of Iowa, including the Humane Society and the Museum. Both facilities are still struggling. I want to go that one extra mile to symbolize what they do (and we Iowans do) every day.
Text what you have donated, or simply send a word of encouragement. I’ll keep a running total of donations on screen, including mine.
For you cycling fans, the trainer is an Elite Qubo Fluid, the bike is a 2013 Colnago CLX 2, and the engine is an aging History professor. I hope to average 120-140 watts and complete the ride in 10 hours.
Many thanks in advance.
