Cyclists on this year's Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa will only have to ride 17 more miles to complete the optional century loop and crack a 100-mile day.

The last time it was that short was in 2006.

RAGBRAI L will take riders 500 miles across the state from the Missouri River to the Mississippi River July 23 - 29. As the ride progresses, riders will stop in the host town Sioux City, overnight towns Carroll, Ames, Des Moines, Tama-Toledo, Coralville and the ending town Davenport.

While details about both the optional century loop and the optional gravel day were released Friday, the roads riders take are still subject to change.

Gravel route on Day 2 will have less climb than regular route.
