The Ankeny Police Department asked for help from the public Friday in locating a missing 58-year-old man.

Ankeny police said Michael S. Nichols was last seen Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the 100 block of West First Street and is likely on foot and possibly carrying a canvas bag.

According to police, Nichols has a large raspberry birthmark on his left arm and shoulder.

Police said Nichols has severe medical conditions that worsen during the heat and noted that he does not have access to his medication.

The police department said Nichols was seen on or around bike trails north of Ankeny.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911, or the Polk County Dispatch Center at 515-286-3333.
