HabiTour 2019 was held on Saturday, Aug. 24 on the Raccoon River Valley Trail. The bike ride started and ended at the Hotel Pattee in Perry. Participants could choose from 25, 50 and 100 mile rides, each with food rest stops.

Omar Padilla, with Dallas County Habitat for Humanity, said the HabiTour ride was the “brain child of the former Executive Director for Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity, an affiliate that serves, Boone, Guthrie and Green Counties.”

The former executive director organized a HabiTour ride in 2017.

“About a year ago Erich and I connected and discussed how we could grow the event, share the work and share the funds raised between both affiliates,” Padilla said. “The objective of the ride is to offer riders and volunteers and opportunity to get to hear the Habitat for Humanity message, at the same time have a good time and raise funds to support the work we do.”

Around half of the proceeds raised through the 2019 HabiTour ride will go towards paying for ride expenses, while the other half will be split between Heart of Iowa Habitat and Dallas County Habitat.
