A senior at Iowa State University was hit by a car while bicycling on the southeast edge of campus on Wednesday, according to Ames police.

Sequan Gatlin was riding his bicycle while crossing Beach Avenue at the intersection of Lincoln Way when he was hit by a car that failed to yield around 3:30 p.m., said Ames Police Commander Geoff Huff.

Gatlin was transported to a local hospital. The accident report noted there were "possible serious injuries," Huff said.

The driver, Kimberly Hanson, of Ellsworth, was cited for failure to yield upon left turn.

Gatlin's current condition is unknown.
