Did you know if you bicycle gets stolen and you didn't record your bike's serial number, it likely won't be returned...?

Police say if you record your serial number, it is the best way you'll get your bicycle back. Police officers don't normally pull people over on bicycles and ask for the serial numbers without suspicion that it is stolen.

SO - HERE IS YOUR FAIR WARNING...

  1. Record your serial number on all your bikes
  2. Keep a recent photo of the bicycle.. Heck - take a photo of the serial number too
  3. Keep a list of accessories and custom parts.
  4. Keep the receipts for all your bikes and bike parts
  5. Put your name and contact info inside the seat tube or somewhere else inconspicuous.
  6. LOCK YOU BIKE with a good lock

Where are serial numbers located?

Thanks for this story. This is something I've always been meaning to do but never got around to it. I just took pictures of the serial numbers on all my bikes and have them backed up to the cloud. Better now then never. Thank you!
