The Board of Directors of the Iowa Bicycle Racing Association met on Jan 25th at the Iowa Bike Summit in Des Moines. The purpose of this annual meeting was to conduct the election of new officers for the year, establish a budget, and conduct general business.

Election of Board:
Mark Guthart (the 2013 President of the Board) decided not to run for re-election in 2014.I want to thank Mark for all he has done, and continues to do, for the board and for bike racing in Iowa. With that we needed a new member. The remaining officers, Larry Howe, Greg Harper, Dan Rekemeyer, Jeff Mertz, Paul Jensen, and Landon Beachy ran for re-election.Rick Hopson and Jacob Oyen also ran to join the board. The existing board members retained their seats on the board, and an Rick Hopson was elected as a new member. Welcome to the Board Rick!

We then selected officers and assigned positions and duties.

Board Positions:
President, USAC Liaison, Officials Coordinator - Jeff Mertz
Treasurer - Larry Howe
Secretary - Dan Rekemeyer
Paul Jensen - Road and Cross Schedule Coordinator
Landon Beachy - Upgrade Coordinator
Greg Harper
Rick Hopson

In addition to the Board, there are two ad-hoc positions:
Randy Catron - will remain Permit Coordinator
New for 2014Jacob Oyen - IT Manager

Jacob did not get elected to the board, but offered his services to assist with the website and social media. Look for a lot of changes this year on the website, Facebook, Twitter, ect.Thanks Jacob, you assistance is greatly appreciated. And I know your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
