The Whiterock Conservancy will receive $5,000 in funding from Carroll County for their proposed 19 mile trail system which includes equestrian, mountain bike and walking trails.

The system will be the largest in the area and only one other trail in Iowa will be comparable.

Conrad Kramer, Executive Director for the Whiterock Conservancy showed the county board of supervisors their plans and says they reduced the CAT Grant request from $800,000 to $400,000 and felt they had a very good chance to be chosen.

Supervisor Marty Danzer supported the idea and felt the county needed to show support for Coon Rapids which would benefit from the trail system. He made a motion for $5,000 over 2 years.

Supervisor Neil Bock supported the project but only wanted to fund $1,000.
