Five trails closed in Des Moines due to high water

Blog post by Jason Pulliam Heavy rains and high waters over the past week have forced the closure of five Des Moines recreational trails. The following is a list provided this morning by the Des Moines Park and Recreation Department: - The Walnut Creek Trail is closed from 63rd Street and Grand Avenue to Center Street , and south of North Valley Drive - The Bill Riley Trail is closed from Ashworth Pool to Water Works Park. - The Meredith Trail is closed from Southwest 16th Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway to Fleur Drive. - The Gay Lea Wilson Trail is closed. - The Neal Smith Trail is closed from Saylor Road to Sixth Avenue.
