After visiting family in Ames last week, I must comment on how impressed I am with the quality and quantity of bike trails in central Iowa. My current home in Austin, Texas, may have bragging rights to being the home of Lance Armstrong, but we have nothing close to the network of lanes and rails-to-trails bike paths that you have so wonderfully provided. While visiting, I had hoped to compete in the Cy-Man Triathlon, but couldn't find anywhere in Ames or Des Moines to rent me a bike. Huge thanks to the guys at Kyle's Bikes in Ankeny for loaning a great bike to a total stranger. Owner Kyle Robinson and his gem of a bike shop on Ankeny's southwest side took the time to fit me on a bike, loan it to me for four days free of charge, asking only for a Christmas card as payment. Thank you, Kyle, and thank you, Iowa. The card will be in the mail. - Nancy Edwards Moore (AHS '76), Austin, Texas
