Give your young artist a summer project: RAGBRAI Kids Art Contest

RAGBRAI will sponsor an art contest for students who are in kindergarten through fifth grade in the Missouri Valley School District with the grand prize being $350. The Missouri Valley RAGBRAI town theme should be incorporated into the art. Our theme is "Mo. Thrills - Mo. Hills - Mo. Valley." Just think bikes, hills, RAGBRAI, or whatever you think the bike ride will look like. The artwork can be drawings (crayon, markers, pencil, etc.), paintings (finger paints, water color, etc.) or sculptures (Clay, paper-mache, etc.). The artwork can be no larger than 11" x 14". Members of the Missouri Valley RAGBRAI Committee will judge the artwork. The local committee will select a winner from each grade. Each winner will receive a certificate and then a local grand prizewinner will be selected from that group of winners. The local grand prizewinner will be entered into the state RAGBRAI contest and will compete with the grand prize winners from the seven other towns hosting RAGBRAI this year. The winner of the state contest will receive the grand prize of $350. Please be sure that the child's name and grade is on the artwork either down in the front corner or on the back. You need to have a phone number on the back so if they win we can reach them. The art entries need to be dropped off at the Missouri Valley Chamber of Commerce office, 100 S. 4th Street, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and received no later than June 13. You may also mail them in if you wish. "We will use the masterpieces to decorate the community for RAGBRAI. They could be at the information centers or maybe in store windows!," said Chamber Executive Director Jeff Snyder.
