Distance - 46 miles

The dual skills of distance riding and liver-spanking are on the table here. If you make it back to Anthony's and you're so tired, you'd need to rest up just to have the strength to die of exhaustion, you're doing it right. If, on the other hand, you were too lazy to hold up your own baby bottle, have you considered a career at the post office? If you're game, the Pirates invite you to join us in one last, futile crack at getting in shape for the paper's ride. Except for the HGH in Jon's hair, it's steroid-free......

Route

From Anthony's, take the bike trail to Legends in Pleasant Hill. Then take more trail to the south side, turn east on Parkridge/6th, and follow the Pirate signs as you zig-zag the maze of blacktops to Runnells. Then straight north to Mitchellville. Jump over I-80, and ride west to the Wooden Nickel in Bondurant. Then it's back south to Altoona. We'll hand you maps so pretty, you'll learn to stop worrying and love the recession....
