Warning: Bobtoberfest can precipitate or exacerbate latent mental disorders. It could also cure them. Ride at your own risk.
It takes bob considerable knowledge to realize the extent of his own ignorance – so pay attention!
Bobtoberfest, like a well-aged organic velveeta, is bad for your health, changes little year-to-year, and will probably lead to your eventual demise. However, it’s a self-indulgent treat that tends to expand the mind and sustain the soul well into the cold months of the Midwest-coast winter.
So here we go again. The phases of Bobtober:
Excitement:
Bob will meet in and around Pual’s Tap in downtown Dubuque around 10:45 am. The anticipation is so exciting Bob stands fully erect. Bring masks, whips, and chains. Or just bring yourself and your bike. The bus and trailers will depart for Farley around 12:15 pm. Be there or be somewhere else.
Plateau:
Ride (unofficially) starts in Farley sometime in the early afternoon around 1. Ride goes to Epworth, Graveyard (to pay Bob’s respects), Graf (possible late afternoon snack), and then on to….
Full Release:
Durango is always a good time right about dark. It usually only takes seconds, but feels like hours. Some folks stay in Durango overnight, some take a taxi, and some folks roll on to DBQ.
Resolution & Rebound:
It’s all downhill from Durango. The ride into Dubuque is done at Bob’s own pace. Swing by the Lift for cake and ice cream and complete the circle by making it to Paul’s where a prize will be granted to the winner of the ride (the last person to make it).
Remember, it’s a highly competitive race for last place. Bring lights, helmets, WARM gear, ditchers, and any other devices you think could be useful. It gets cold and lonely in the dark in late October. Prior planning prevents piss poor performance. You miss all of the shots you don't take. So take the shots you're offered.
Below is a pic of the year the bikes road bob. And another of the marshmallow roasting incident in Durango from two years ago.
