Who We Are
The BIKEIOWA Cycling Team is composed of a unique group of passionate, influential, tightly-knit, life-cyclists looking to make a difference in cycling and our community. We have members from all disciplines and experience levels. We’ll
compete in mountain bike, cyclocross, road, triathlon, duathlon, time trials, alley cats, adventure racing, and obviously NON racing events. From RAGBRAI, to the local pub crawls, we’ll be there, too! We BLUR THE LINES that racers
are CYCLISTS, and vice versa.
Our inaugural team in 2010 was 14 members strong. In 2013 our team roster was 26 members strong. As a team, we ride together, race together, play together and live life together. We have FUN. We share the same attitudes and lifestyles.
We give back to the community in which we live.
We BLUR THE LINES. We ride and race many types of bicycles. We ride to work. We are first and foremost ‘cyclists’. We "know" the Iowa Cycling community better than anyone. We can just as likely be seen on a pub crawl as
we can at a cyclocross race. We build, maintain and help plan trails. We BLUR THE LINES between the party scene and the race scene. We are Iowa cyclists making Iowa a better place to bicycle.
Creed
To create a culture not seen in current ‘race’ teams. To be active and present in ALL forms of cycling pursuits in the state. Results on the race course are secondary to success in building passion in our community to live an active, fun lifestyle,
with bicycles.
Our Mission
"To promote both CYCLING and FUN in our community". The BIKEIOWA Cycling team will ‘live’ the lifestyle and 'be seen’ in our community. We will make change, but not be elitist in doing so. We are the
most approachable bunch of ‘athletes’ anywhere. Period. We’ll be as motivated as ANY racer when we toe the line, but as approachable as any cyclist you’d come across on a weekend fun ride. We BLUR THE LINES. The words athlete and elitist don’t have to go hand in hand.
