Iowa does not have mountains or oceans, but we have a world class trails system that just keeps getting better. Each year, more and more Iowans are bicycling in Iowa, more trails are being connected, and that means more communities are accessible via trail. This is called Bicycle Tourism and we are well on our way to becoming the Trails Capital of the World!
Cyclists love to eat, drink and buy things! It is proven that cyclists spend more at their destinations than non-cycling visitors.
The more marketing WE do, the more exposure YOU get.
We treat our bike-friendly sponsors and advertisers like partners by providing custom exposure through BIKEIOWA to our viewers. Thousands of cyclists visit BIKEIOWA each month from Iowa, the Midwest and beyond.
BIKEIOWA
is the only website of its kind that includes all
cycling genres, events, trails & city info, races, destinations, news, features, reviews,
comments, etc. The nuts and bolts of the site is the extensive Event Calendar. There are also 980+ City and 180+ Trail Portals designed to
showcase each city and trail in Iowa.
Cyclists love to visit bicycle-friendly businesses. Each of our sponsors markets and caters to cyclists in one way or another. Each is unique and we love it!
Become a Sponsor
The most popular Sponsorship package is the 12 month-annual for $500 ($1.37/day). This is less than a one week ad in the local Shopper, and you don't know who reads it! There are some cheaper options for local advertising for a specific city or trail. We can discuss more in detail if you'd like.
Here is what you get:
- Listing on Sponsor page: Each sponsor page contains a "related content" area containing links to the News, Features, Events, etc. where the your business was mentioned and tagged.
- Home Page "Welcome" Feature - We make this special as it is a "first impression" about your business to cyclists.
two examples: Whistling Donkey in Woodward and Bike Tech in Cedar Falls
- Footer Sponsor logo listed in footer banner rotation (each page has this)
- Side Sponsor logo listed in side banner rotation (each page has an average of 4 location for banners)
- Social media blasts: As of May 2015, BIKEIOWA has over 4,515 Twitter and 7420+ Facebook followers. We believe in tactful social media, and we know it works.
- Year-round promotion - We post content throughout the year (Specials, events, and other cool stuff that you are doing). YOU can also post News, Events, Links, Reviews, etc. on BIKEIOWA. We'll teach you how to use BIKEIOWA to benefit your business and get your message out to cyclists.
All sponsorship monies received go right back into the site to help pay the site's expenses, promote events, contests, coozies, stickers, and other marketing tactics to increase awareness of BIKEIOWA.com.
Traffic

"Bicycling and Iowa go together. At BikeIowa.com, I can find bicycle rides all over the state. I can find contacts for hundreds of bicycle clubs in Iowa. I can locate shops that provide first class bicycling sales and excellent service at fair prices. There is a lot to know about bicycling in Iowa. BikeIowa.com has an established history of providing a huge amount of accurate information that is easy to find. It’s simply the first place to look."
~ Frank de Lathouder, past president of Lake Country Cyclists
When we started working on Penny's Pieathlon several people directed me to make sure it was posted on BIKE IOWA. They were all right, of course, and we appreciate the chance to reach so many thousands of cycling enthusiasts across Iowa and the USA. Thanks for sharing your passion for biking and providing a great forum to all of us to share.
~Dave Milburn , event coordinator for Penny's Pieathlon
We are truly blessed to have BikeIowa.com as a resource supporting the bike community. Bike racks on transit buses? BikeIowa.com was there supporting and cheering on the amazing growth of usage. Restriping of Ingersoll Avenue? BikeIowa.com got the word out regarding key public meetings. BikeIowa.com has been awesome in building support for the Des Moines Bicycle Collective. I don't know how we would have kept our doors open without word spreading through the bike community via BikeIowa.com. A lion's share of the cyclists enrolling the the Collective night bike-maintenance classes read about it from one source: BikeIowa.com
~ Carl Voss, Des Moines Bicycle Collective
BikeIowa (f/k/a Cibroc) was the local social media site for bikers before anyone knew what social media sites were. It has allowed bikers with varied interests to find other bikers with similar interests. It was, and still is, integral in getting the word out on biking events. These events would be much less successful if it were not for bikeiowa. I believe BikeIowa is still the preeminent site for Iowa cyclists in Iowa and surrounding areas for keeping up on cycling issues and events around state and our lives would less fulfilling without it. Great job Scott and thanks for your past and continuing efforts.
~ R. Kramer, local cyclist
As a relatively new cyclist a few years ago, the bikeiowa.com site helped me find rides and events to meet other people in the cycling community. Now a leisure cyclist turned racer, I’ve used those connections to build on my networking within the racing community. I would say the newest cyclocross page (bikeiowa.com/cross) has been a most outstanding addition. The fostering of this has helped so much with bridging the gap between Type A racers and leisure cyclists just wanting to have a good time.
~ K. Halder, local cyclist
BikeIowa.com has made an impact in my personal and professional life. As a famous bumper sticker says "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!" Well, I wasn't with BikeIowa.com from the start, but joined as fast as I could! In 2007, the Bait Shop started hosting bicycling events and here we are today one of Des Moines' favorite pitstops for cycling enthusiasts! Three years ago, I put 20 miles on my bike (many years it just collected dust in the garage), two years ago I put on 800 miles and last year 1,200 miles. Most of my miles are commuting back and forth to work, because my wife and also had two kids over the last two years, but I hope to add miles every year. Now el Bait Shop and I are fully committed to the bicycling community and BikeIowa. BikeIowa puts the "Community" in the bicycling community. BikeIowa is so taken for granted people forget how important this website is to everyone and life without BikeIowa would just plain suck. I believe without BikeIowa we wouldn't have the Bike Collective, Bike to Work Week, Bike Month, as many races, as many rides, as busy bike shops, the New Belgian Urban Assault ride and many others which are too much to mention. I guess I just want to say, Thank You Scott Sumpter for all of your hard work and dedication and for making bicycling in Iowa what it is today.
~ Jeff Bruning, Owner of el Bait Shop
