WATERLOO – A Waterloo boy has been taken to an Iowa City hospital after his bike and a car collided on Monday night.

According to the accident report, Deondre Reed, age unavailable, had several teeth knocked out and suffered facial injuries in the crash. He has been transferred to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City for dental surgery. Police said his injuries aren’t considered life threatening.

The collision happened at about 7:20 p.m. Monday in the area of Franklin and Courtland streets.

Reed, whose bike wasn’t equipped with lights, allegedly pulled out in front of a Chrysler 300 driven by Jenifer Berendes, 24, of Waterloo, the report states. Berendes told police the she wasn’t able to stop in time, the report states.

She drove Reed to Unity Point-Allen Hospital, and he was later transferred to Iowa City.
