Skunk River Cycles, located on historic Main Street in downtown Ames, Iowa, is a bicycle shop that has been a destination for all types of riders since 2001. We are the only locally owned bike shop in Ames.
We provide service on any make, model or year of bicycle, and are a dealer of Cannondale, Marin, Salsa, Surly, Soma, and Ritchey bicycles. We also carry E-bikes from Gazelle, Cannondale, Marin and Serfas.
If you're not looking to buy a new bike, we have a wide array of accessories and apparel to help you outfit yourself and your rig for any type of riding in any type of weather.
We cater to the needs of all types of riders, from those looking to simply get out and enjoy the fresh air on a comfortable bike to the daily commuter and even the dedicated racer. If you already ride a bike, we can help you to enjoy it more or get to the podium in your next race. If you don't, we can help you find the ride that will put a smile on your face and get you back out on the trail.
We carry accessories, apparel and service items from such quality brands as Cannondale, Giro, Park Tool, Topeak, Planet Bike, Finish Line, and others. If you need something to improve your cycling experience, we can help. If you just want some advice on local trails and events, we can help you there, too!
Our sales and expertise are not limited to bikes, however; we also offer indoor trainers from Saris, and carry vehicle bike racks from Thule, Saris, Swagman, Kuat, and Hollywood.
We now offer custom bike fitting services provided by Jason Quinn with the Ames Cycling Center.
