Attorney for the Drainage District, Lou McMeen, attended the June 2 Iowa County Supervisors’ meeting to discuss a plan for making a bike trail on top of the existing trail on the levee around Marengo. The trail would run from Highway 212 around to Highway 6. The plan would be to eventually connect with the Amana bike trails.

Barry Goettsch, CEO of Compass Memorial and Marengo resident, told the board they would start a 5013c charity group for the project, and they did not attend for county support, they were just letting them know.

“There is nothing for the county to do right now,” he stated. The current estimate for the project is $231,464.

The winner of the low bid for the roofing project at the CD shed, Yoder Construction, readjusted his bid to include tearing off the old roof down to the plywood and hauling away the shingles for a total of $21,000 which includes a dumpster from S&J and a $95 per ton cost from the landfill for disposal, with an estimate of 25 tons of material. The addition of these costs to the bid didn't change the outcome. Yoder was still the lowest. The other two bids had already included a complete tear-off.
