Indianola cyclists could soon have a safer way to reach the YMCA on the north side of town.
“We are hoping to start dirt work on the Summerset Trail extension yet this fall,” Indianola Parks and Recreation Director Doug Bylund said last week.
The popular bike trail linkingCarlisle and Indinaolaruns about 500 yards east of the YMCA building.
“Best case scenario,” Bylund said, “it will take six weeks or so, once the council give us the go ahead, from start to finish, to complete the trail extension.”
It could come before the City Council onSept. 17.
The extensioncouldopen by early November andconnect the existing trail to a growing commercial district along Highway 65 that includes a County Inn & Suites hotel and a Mercy medicalclinic.
