All of the recent wet weather didn’t dampen a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday marking the completion of a new segment of the Dickinson County Recreational Trails and the reconstruction of an adjoining portion of the trail.

Erin Reed of the Dickinson County Trails system says the project included the replacement of some pavement with concrete near the Pearson Lakes Art Center, along with extending the trail north from the trail head north of the Art Center to 41st Street in Spirit Lake.

Reed says the project was made possible through the efforts of several people.

“Denny Walker had a big part in facilitatingthis whole project through a generous anonymous and we had several other people that were kind of involved,” said Reed. “Al and Delores Maser family and the Okoboji Foundation, Pearson Lakes Art Center who’s ground this trail is shared with, so we appreciate all they’ve done, and Beck Engineering and Beck Excavating also did the engineering work and the excavating building of the trail, so.”

Reed says it was one of two major trail projects completed this season.
