The Cedar Falls City Council approved plans for the Center Street Recreational Trail at its meeting Monday night.
The trail project will include a 10-foot trail along the west side of Center Street from North Cottage Row Road to West Lone Tree Road.
The estimated cost is $531,000. The Iowa Department of Transportation will provide up to $259,000 toward the project.
Roger White, a member of the Cedar Falls bicycle and pedestrian advisory committee, spoke during the public comments portion of the hearing.
White requested the council consider further planning because bike enthusiasts who use the path will continue further north through a busy intersection.
