A 7-year-old was airlifted to a local hospital Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Kalona.
At about 4:30 p.m., the child was hit by a Chevy Traverse while crossing the street, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report. The accident happened at the corner of Highway 22 and 6th Street.
The child was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. The report did not include the child's name or the severity of the injuries. The incident is still under investigation.
A hospital spokesperson was not able to give more information on the victim.
