Cedar Rapids bike shop sees unlikely spike in sales during February

Bicycle shop owners usually see sales go down during the month of February.

But one downtown Cedar Rapids bike shop says its sales soared this past weekend all because of the warm weather.

Because of the nice weather, Goldfinch Cyclery says they've sold about a third of their inventory over the weekend.

“We were pretty well inundated, which is a really good problem to have, but yeah we pretty much sold through the bulk of our spring bikes and unexpectedly, but again it's a good problem to have,” says Goldfinch Cyclery Co-owner, Logan Orcutt.

Goldfinch Cyclery also saw a rise in bike rentals over the weekend.

They have a total of 12 bikes to rent on their fleet and rented out all of their bikes.
