(Malvern) -- It's the first community along the RAGBRAI 44 route from Glenwood to Shenandoah. And, Malvern residents see it as a big opportunity.

Thousands of bicyclists begin the six-day jaunt Sunday. Lindsey Sayers is co-chair of Malvern's RAGBRAI Committee. Sayers tells KMA News activities actually begin the night before RAGBRAIers roll through the community.

"We're kind of kicking off our Sunday activities with a street dance Saturday night with the Fishheads," said Sayers. "On Sunday night, we'll have live music from 8 a.m. to noon in Heritage Park. We'll also have a drum line from Omaha down--they'll be playing, too. We'll also have live music in our community building."

"Ride and Shine" is Malvern's RAGBRAI theme. And, Sayers says it's her town's chance to shine as part of a big event.

"Malvern was just named an Iowa Great Place to Live," she said. "We do have a lot of people in the community that are proud of what we have to offer, and we are looking forward to having people in town to highlight the things to do and see."
