SOLON, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —Many think of Memorial Day weekend as the unofficial start of the summer season.
Right now though, the city of Solon is planning ahead.
It's working with Johnson County on a project to keep people coming through in the warmer months, but it isn't by car. Solon city staff say cyclists do a lot to support the community, so the city is working on more reasons why bikers should steer toward Solon.

"This is going to create kind of a trailhead and this trail then will allow users to get on here in Solon and travel all the way up to Waterloo, Cedar Falls," says Solon Public Works Director Scott Kleppe.
Kleppe says Solon sees a lot of cyclists, many coming from North Liberty and Iowa City. Those bikers help support the community and staff want that to grow by putting more information about the town in the trail head.
