The waiting is finally over and the big announcements for this year’s RAGBRAI stop in Mason City have finally been made.

Officials announced that the theme for the 2014 stop will be “The Best Hump Day Ever.”

The designer of the logo and theme says that the idea came from all of the riders who will be taking a week off of work and taking to a week on the road.

Nancy Elder, the hospitality and publicity chair says that they were inspired by all of the people willing to give up their normal lives to participate in such an amazing event, and this was their way of recognizing everyone’s efforts for the week.

“In case you haven’t guessed, RAGBRAI will be arriving in Mason City on Wednesday July 23rd,” Elder says, “and it will be ‘The Best Hump Day Ever’ on that Wednesday.”

Executive Director of Main Street Mason City, Jodee O’Brian says that officials are working with area businesses to potentially have deals for anyone who comes into shops or restaurants on Wednesdays wearing the shirts.

That wasn’t the only announcement at Wednesday’s event.

Officials have announced that the entertainer coming to Mason City for the overnight performance will be Brett Michaels, and opening for him will be the band Warrant.

Folks at the announcement said they were pleased to hear who will be coming to town and say that they’re impressed with the big name star that coordinators got for the evening.
