Freezing temperatures aren't exactly the best conditions to ride a bike in, but that didn't stop this group of people from getting up early and having fun.

Folks were up early Saturday morning, facing the snow to get a bike ride in.It's called Winter SUX, a bike ride that's not like the average one.

"It's a winter bike ride, so I'm pretty pumped up. I think everyone else is pumped up," said Johnny Shelby, event organizer.

The ride began at Miles Inn in Morningside and went through snowy Sioux City streets with stops at local bars along the way.

"So basically, 5 miles, 5 bars, 6 bars, and you make a day of it," said Shelby.

These bikers say, the frigid temperatures won't stop them from having a good time.

"Oh, I've done it many times, but I've never done it in this kind of snow before so, kind of looking forward to that," said Bob Roberts.

"I haven't ridden that much in the snow, so I guess I'll just be dealing with it and see what happens," said Greg Peterson.

Planners say the annual ride serves as a kick off to biking season. Yearly participants feel it's a great way to network.

"I think there's a lot of camaraderie. People have a good time and it brings together cyclists from all over that normally may not see each other, so it's just a good time to meet and greet," said Barbara Anne-Huculak.

Many of these people will also be participating in a charity bike event called Bike Sux,which will be on June 7th, 2014.
